The ‘Skulls’ Genesis
The Skulls paintings are a part of a series of works touching on subject of Thanatos.
Thanatos as a ‘death drive’ leads towards self destruction and as a result – annihilation, returnal to the pre-organic state. In contrast to it stands the ‘life drive’, providing with supply of creative force and will of survival.
The idea of a constant friction between those two drives creates an intelectual space for artistic embodiment. The idea of constant creation and destruction leads to a seeming paradox, where death becomes the creative force and life is submissive to its power.
